Ganesh Chathurthi Kit

For Ganesh Chaturthi,

Idol and Setup: 

• Ganesh Idol: Preferably made of clay or eco-friendly materials.

• Chowki or Wooden Platform: A raised platform for the idol.

• Red Cloth: To adorn the chowki or idol.

• Kalash (Sacred Pot): A pot filled with water, topped with mango leaves and a coconut, symbolizing purity and life.

Offerings and Ingredients: 

• Coconut: Offered during the puja and as a food offering (naivedya).

• Durva Grass: A sacred offering that Ganesha loves.

• Fresh Flowers: Marigolds, jasmine, and red hibiscus (jaswand) are commonly used.

• Betel Leaves and Nuts (Paan-Supari): Signs of respect and completeness.

• Sandalwood Paste (Chandan): For spiritual cooling and making a tilak.

• Turmeric Powder (Haldi): Symbolizes auspiciousness and abundance.

• Kumkum: Used for decorating and in tilak.

• Akshat: Unbroken rice offered during prayers and aarti.

Ritual Items: 

• Incense Sticks (Agarbatti): To fill the space with a pleasant aroma.

• Camphor: Used for purification and to invite divine presence.

• Diyas (Lamps): A ghee diya is used for performing the aarti.

• Ghee: For the diya.

• Mouli (Sacred Thread): For prayers and tying around wrists.

• Clapper Bell (Ghanta): To ring during aarti.

Other Items:

• Sweets (Prasad): Modak is a favorite offering to Lord Ganesha. 

• Music Instruments: Ghumots, crash cymbals (taal), and pakhavaj are used in rituals.
