Karwa Chauth Puja Vidhi (Procedure)

  1. Sargi (Pre-dawn Meal): Begin the day by eating a pre-dawn meal with family, especially the mother-in-law. 

  2. Sankalp: Before sunrise, women make a Sankalp or pledge to observe the fast for their husband’s well-being and long life, vowing not to eat or drink water. 

  3. Evening Puja: In the evening, women gather to perform the puja. This includes reciting the Karwa Chauth katha (story) and placing items like the karwa and idols on the puja thali. 

  4. Moon Sighting: After the evening puja, wait for the moon to rise. 

  5. Moon Worship: Once the moon is visible, women view it through the chhanni, offer water to it, and pray to the moon. 

  6. Break the Fast: Finally, women break their fast by drinking water from the karwa.
